The Kawai Piano Corporation and the Japan America Society present the Japanese jazz pianist and composer Yuko Maruyama to American audiences by promoting jazz club concert engagements for the release of her In Tone Nation, CD and audiophile DVD 5.1 surround recordings in the United States. Yuko Maruyama’s In Tone Nation is the premiere recording of the new Shigeru Kawai Grand Piano. This outstanding instrument, handcrafted in Japan, is the perfect partner for Yuko’s energetic musical style. “We are very pleased to introduce Yuko to American jazz audiences,” says Doug Erber, President of the Japan America Society in Los Angeles. “She is a marvelous performer. The sound of this musical collaboration between artist and instrument is exceptional,” he says. Kawai Pianos and Japan America Society selected jazz venues around the country for these Yuko Maruyama concert engagements. “We want these concerts to be held in traditional American jazz club settings,” explains Erber. “Although jazz was born in America it is extremely popular among the Japanese,” he says. “It will be a unique cultural event for Western and Japanese patrons to experience Yuko’s original music together in truly American jazz clubs.” In Tone Nation concert performances have been held at several famous jazz venues including: Catalina Bar and Grill in Hollywood, Seattle's Jazz Alley, Yoshi's in Oakland and at Dizzy's in San Diego. Additional performances will be at jazz clubs in Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, Dallas and New York. The Kawai Piano Corporation and the Japan America Society will release further information about these upcoming concerts including the chosen venues, concert dates and ticket information on their websites, in publications and in various corporate mailings. The full tour schedule will also be posted at: www.yukomaruyama.com. Press Release pdf | The Shigeru Piano.pdf | Making of a CD.pdf |
